On Saturday, a shocking incident occurred at Nyamwaga Mixed Secondary School in Homa Bay County, where a 16-year-old student allegedly attacked his 15-year-old classmate with a machete, chopping off his left hand.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect confronted the victim on his way home, claiming he had 'snitched' on him to the school administration, leading to his suspension.

Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo East Sub County Police Commander Charles Barasa stated that the suspect was armed with a machete and attacked the victim, chopping off his left hand as he tried to block the panga.

Barasa noted that the reason behind the student's suspension was not yet clear, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspect who went missing after the attack.

The victim was rushed to Matata Hospital in Oyugis Town for treatment.
