The Deputy Director of Meteorological Services, Mr Peter Ambenje, has announced that Nairobi will experience rainfall during the next five days.
According to Mr Ambenje, who is in charge of Forecasting and County Meteorological Services, the city is expected to record rainfall amounts totaling 10 mm in a day.
Mr Ambenje stated that the increase in rainfall, which began on Thursday, is expected to spread to most parts of the country except northwestern Kenya. He attributed this to the country receiving moisture from the Indian Ocean.
"The country has started to receive moisture from the Indian Ocean which has resulted in an increase of rainfall in several parts of the country," Mr Ambenje said.
Prior to this, dry conditions had affected most parts of the country, particularly in western Kenya, the Northeastern areas, and the coastal strip, due to a deep low-pressure system in the south of Madagascar that blocked moisture from the Indian Ocean.
On Sunday, the areas that recorded the highest amounts of rainfall were Moyale Meteorological Station with 53.6 mm and Wilson Airport with 22.1 mm.
