President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned politicians against making inciting statements to the public.
While speaking at a public function, President Kenyatta advised politicians to focus on their core responsibilities, including nation-building and initiating development projects.
According to the President, "If you are a member of Parliament, what your electorate expects from you is to cater for their interests and spread development, you have CDF (Constituency Development Fund), use it appropriately instead of inciting Kenyans here and there."
The President’s remarks follow recent comments made by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, which have sparked controversy.
Kuria allegedly uttered the following words at a public forum: "That is why I asked you to come with our pangas. And those pangas are not for clearing bushes. Use them to slash those opposed to the NYS project."
A video of Kuria’s statement was widely shared on social media, prompting public outcry.
The matter is being investigated by several institutions, including the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, and the National Alliance Party (TNA).
