A group of six suspected thugs, including a former high school student who scored 447 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), were lynched by angry residents in Riruta.
According to Capital FM, the former student, known as Felix, had dropped out of school due to lack of fees and was living with a group of youth in a rented house, allegedly engaging in criminal activities.
An official from a local NGO that supports street children in the area mourned the deceased, telling Capital FM that Felix's death is a significant loss. Felix was an orphan from Western Kenya and was supposed to resume his studies this year.
The official said, "The devil wants to steal all our investments. Why did they have to die?"
Another suspect, Kamau, the son of a single mother, was also among those lynched. He was set to join high school that weekend.
Some residents expressed dissatisfaction with the lynching, stating that the young men should have been arrested instead.
