A disturbing incident occurred in a village in China when residents discovered a 2-year-old girl abandoned in a graveyard. The girl was found tied to a bamboo cane and left to fend for herself in the cold.
The girl, identified as Dian Dian, was discovered by villagers at Lifu Town graveyard, in Qu County, Sichuan Province, on January 28, which coincided with the Chinese Lunar New Year's Day.
According to reports, Dian Dian's parents were divorced, and her father allegedly abandoned her in the graveyard as a desperate attempt to attract her mother's attention and regain her love.
Circumstances of Discovery ¶
Villagers found Dian Dian shivering and crying, with a board attached to her back bearing her name and her mother's last name, Wang. The police were alerted, and an investigation was launched to locate the father, whose surname was reportedly Luo.
It was also discovered that Dian Dian's grandmother was buried in the same cemetery where the girl was abandoned.
Aftermath ¶
Dian Dian's mother later collected her from the police station. However, the authorities have been unable to locate the father despite their efforts.
