July 22, 2019 - Kenyan boxer Rayton Okwiri, the Africa Boxing Union (ABU) middleweight champion, is eyeing the World Boxing Championship (WBC) title next year and wants to extend his winning streak to 10.

Okwiri, who has been on a six-match winning streak, said he plans to finish with 10 wins without defeat, leaving no margin for error in his upcoming fights.

“Currently I am on 6-0, that is six wins without defeat and the plan I have with my manager is to finish with 10 wins,” Okwiri said.

Okwiri, who was recently promoted to the position of Prison Sergeant, also plans to join the provisional squad named for the All Africa Games (AAG) in training when they report to camp.

“Right now I am on intensive training.I intend to join them (boxers selected) for training so that they get to help me in developing my speed as well as for sparring purposes,” he said.

Okwiri will be in the ring for a non-title contest bout on August 17 against a yet-to-be-named Russian champion, to be hosted in Kenya.
