An unregistered non-governmental organization, East Africa Sub-Sahara Safe Promotion Foundation (EASSASPF), has been deceiving job seekers by promising them employment opportunities in exchange for money.
According to the NGOs Co-ordination Board, EASSASPF is not registered to operate in the country. The board, responsible for registering and monitoring NGO activities, has stated that the organization is not authorized to conduct any activities within the country.
A statement from the NGOs Co-ordination Board reads: "The matter has been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation for further investigations and possible prosecution."
Authorities have arrested 15 officials of EASSASPF for allegedly defrauding 1,000 youths from Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Nandi counties with promises of job placements in Nairobi.
EASSASPF claimed to work with the Ministry of Devolution to secure jobs for youths in the government or private sector. However, the NGOs Co-ordination Board has warned the public against paying fees when seeking employment.
