A woman alleges that she was raped by Dr. Mugo wa Wairimu at his Prestige HealthCare clinic in Githurai 44, off Kamiti Road.
According to her account, she visited the clinic on a Saturday for a pelvic scan. After the scan, she was told that she had a growth in her uterus and needed to undergo surgery immediately.
She claims that Dr. Mugo wa Wairimu then examined her, giving her tablets and a line injection that sedated her. When she woke up, she was in a ward, covered with a sheet, and without her clothes on. She also had a tampon inserted, which was later removed.
Her boyfriend, who had accompanied her to the clinic, became concerned when he saw her condition and confronted the clinic staff. They eventually left the clinic, still unsure of what had happened to her.
The woman alleges that she was never informed that she would be sedated and has no idea what was done to her during the examination. She also claims that the clinic staff tried to administer more medication to her without her consent.
Citizen TV journalists LuLu Hassan and Evalyne Wambui conducted an investigation into the allegations against Dr. Mugo wa Wairimu and reported their findings.
The woman's account and the investigation by Citizen TV have raised concerns about the practices at Prestige HealthCare clinic and the conduct of Dr. Mugo wa Wairimu.
