Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has acquired a new armored vehicle, according to reports. The vehicle, valued at approximately Ksh 12 million, arrived in the country this month and has been seen on Nairobi roads.
This purchase comes as Kenya faces security concerns, including threats from Al-Shabaab. Following the example of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Governor Kabogo has opted for a high-end, bullet- and bomb-proof armored truck.
The acquisition may be related to the upcoming elections, as Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu is said to be interested in running for the governor position in Kiambu County in 2017.
