Siaya Bar Employee Arrested for Impersonation

A 30-year-old man, Michael Obiero, was taken into custody in Siaya county on Monday night for allegedly posing as a female barmaid and stealing from clients.

According to reports, Obiero's true identity was discovered when a customer became suspicious of his physical appearance and alerted others. He had been working at the bar for two days under the name Brenda.

It was also reported that Obiero shared a hotel room with two barmaids at Usenge market. Following his arrest, police conducted an inspection, which revealed his true identity.

Obiero stated that he identifies as transgender.

The Bondo Deputy County Commissioner, Samson Akatch, confirmed that the incident is under investigation. Akatch also mentioned that the bar owner will be summoned to provide an explanation for failing to properly vet their employees.
