A chance encounter near a sugarcane field in Kakamega led to the romance between 27-year-old Ramadhan 'Ramzi' Mohamed and 25-year-old Eshah Gelleh, who recently won a Sh2.5 million Valentine's Day package from the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi.
Ramadhan first approached Eshah while grazing his father's cows near the sugarcane field. He decided to make his move when he saw her walking back home from work, but things didn't go as planned. Her uncle, who had no time for young men in the village, arrived, prompting Ramadhan to run into the nearby cane farm and injure himself.
The next day, Ramadhan went to the Mumias Model Dispensary for treatment and coincidentally found Eshah working there. As he limped to her desk, she noticed the cut on his knee and recalled his face from the previous day.
Eshah, who had a checklist for her ideal partner, was impressed by Ramadhan's courage and the fact that he spoke to her in Arabic. The two started a relationship, and their story, published on the Villa Rosa Kempinski Facebook page, garnered 700 votes from the public, winning them the competition.
Ramadhan, a clerical assistant at the Kakamega County Assembly, described Eshah as an amazing person with a great personality, beauty, and excellent cooking skills. The couple is looking forward to their Valentine's Day treat, which includes a pickup by limousines, a VIP check-in, and a stay in the presidential suite.
Their love story began two years ago when Ramadhan took Eshah to the Kisumu Impala Park for their first date. Now, they are set to enjoy a luxurious Valentine's Day celebration courtesy of the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel.
