The Insurance Amendment Bill 2013 was rejected by the President in December following objections from the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), including concerns over the selection of a new commissioner.
The bill aimed to enhance supervision of insurance companies and introduce moral and financial investigations for heads of insurance companies prior to their approval, in an effort to mitigate the risk of company collapses due to mismanagement.
