According to the original account, former Minister Shoita Shitanda has passed away. Shitanda represented the people of Malava constituency from 1997 after defeating Mr. Joshua Angatia on a Ford Kenya ticket.

Shitanda was re-elected in 2002 on the NARC ticket and served as an assistant minister in the office of the President, before he was appointed minister for housing in a cabinet reshuffle in 2005.

He was re-elected to parliament in 2007 and re-appointed as housing minister.

In 2013, he failed to secure a parliamentary nomination due to a lack of academic qualifications.
