Johnson Mwakazi, a former news anchor at Citizen TV, has secured a new position at Ebru TV, barely three months after losing his job at WTV due to the station's bankruptcy and shutdown.
Mwakazi previously served as CEO of WTV for three years before the station collapsed in December 2016, resulting in the loss of 50 jobs, including his own.
According to Director General of Ebru TV, Nadir Kilic, Mwakazi will join the station once a buyer is selected from among five interested parties. The station had faced rumors of closure due to financial constraints but is currently undergoing a review of bids from potential buyers.
Mwakazi had left a prominent role at Citizen TV in 2013 to join the startup WTV. He is expected to take on a top management position at Ebru TV.
