Opposition leader Raila Odinga has taken another swipe at Deputy President William Ruto and Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale.
While on a tour of Garissa county on Thursday, February 9, Raila attacked Ruto, saying he lacks respect and good manners. According to Raila, this is why Duale is always praising him, as they share similar characteristics.
Raila also discussed how he helped Garissa Town MP Aden Duale rise from obscurity, funding his campaigns and supporting his career.
Raila stated,
"Duale amekosa adabu. Anasifu mtu kama Ruto ambaye vile vile hana adabu" ("Duale lacks respect. He praises someone like Ruto who is also disrespectful").
The relationship between Raila and Ruto has been complex, having been in the same camp in 2007. However, they fell out in 2009 over issues related to the Mau Forest. Ruto later teamed up with Uhuru Kenyatta and won the 2013 General Election against Raila.
As the 2017 polls drew closer, political tensions rose, with politicians seeking to gain maximum support from their followers.
