Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua announced that he is not beholden to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto, contradicting claims made by the opposition coalition CORD.
Statement from Governor Mutua ¶
In a statement, Mutua denied being a "gun for hire" for the Jubilee Government, stating that his primary goal is to develop Machakos County and improve the lives of its residents.
"Many people have been asking what my desire is, but I tell them I am not interested in seeking power or working for someone, but in doing service for the people who elected me," said Mutua.
Priorities ¶
According to Mutua, serving the people of Machakos is his top priority, followed by other considerations such as party affiliation and politics. He emphasized that "the people of Machakos who elected me to serve them come number one, number two and number three and the rest comes fourth."
This announcement follows recent accusations by Kalonzo Musyoka that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto were using Mutua to further their own political interests in the Kamba region.
