Kisumu Senator Demands Action Against Police Officer Involved in Fatal Shooting of Protesters

Prof. P. Anyang' Nyong'o, Senator for Kisumu County, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the police officer responsible for shooting dead peaceful demonstrators in Kisumu and Siaya.

In a statement, Prof. Nyong'o expressed shame over the actions of law enforcement agencies in Kisumu, citing ethnic profiling of the Luo nation. He emphasized that such behavior must stop.

Prof. Nyong'o also stated that no amount of intimidation would deter CORD and the people of Kenya from seeking reforms in the electoral process.

The statement was issued on May 24, 2016, following the violent incidents involving protesters and police in Nyanza.
