A tour guide from Tanzania who gained attention for falsely translating a tourist's comments in a video has been arrested.

The video, which spread quickly on social media, showed the tour guide misinterpreting the tourist's praise for Tanzanians, instead suggesting they should stop complaining about hunger.

According to reports, the Minister for Tourism, Jumanne Mshembe, ordered the tour guide's arrest. The potential charges against him are not yet clear, but it is speculated that he might be charged with mimicking President Magufuli, who had recently spoken out against Tanzanians complaining about hunger.

The recovered account cited reporting by Ghafla.
