The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has urged governors of Nakuru, Bomet, and Narok counties to develop policies for managing land systems.
According to Daniel Njau, NCCK programs officer, these policies would help address land degradation and provide a roadmap for land management. Njau emphasized the importance of educating residents about environmental protection policies.
Njau stated,
As a non-governmental organisation we have also laid out a draft policy that will equip communities living in the region with knowledge on the need to conserve the Mara River through proper management of their lands.
