A massive fire engulfed the Bible Society of Zambia building in Lusaka on Wednesday, but surprisingly, over 50,000 Bibles stored in a warehouse within the building remained intact.
The fire caused significant damage to the building, but the warehouse containing the Bibles was unaffected, according to the Chairman of the Board of the Bible Society of Zambia, Reverend Edwin Zulu.
Reverend Zulu described the fact that no lives were lost and no Bibles were damaged as a miracle from God. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, which produced large plumes of smoke visible from a distance.
Although the extent of the damage is still being assessed, Reverend Zulu noted that the cost of repairs has not yet been determined. The incident has drawn attention to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the fire, which destroyed everything except the sacred books.
An investigation by Tuko found that the fire had a significant impact on the building, but the Bibles remained unscathed. According to Reverend Edwin Zulu, the fact that the Bibles were spared is a testament to the power of faith.
