Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has asked Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko to leave the Jubilee party and join the CORD coalition.
Speaking at a public rally in Mukuru kwa Njenga, Kalonzo urged Sonko to join CORD and help them defeat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, in the 2017 elections.
Kalonzo promised to give Sonko a direct Wiper nomination if he switches from Jubilee, stating that CORD is the coalition to watch in the next election.
Kalonzo expressed confidence that CORD will form the next government with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as President and encouraged the Nairobi Senator to make the move quickly to avoid being left out of the government.
"Time has come for all right-thinking Kenyans to come out and remove Jubilee from power. CORD will form the next Government. The coalition will not fall apart as predicted by the prophets of doom," said Kalonzo.
The former VP was accompanied by Nairobi Deputy Governor, Jonathan Mueke, Senators Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makueni) and Hassan Omar Hassan (Mombasa), and MPs. Daniel Maanzo (Makueni), Jessica Mbalu (Kibwezi East), Irshad Sumra (Embakasi South) and Robert Mbui (Kathiani).
