Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo has spoken about the mistreatment she faces in Parliament due to her inability to give birth. According to Odhiambo, some male MPs from the opposing side of the political divide have referred to her as a "barren prostitute", causing her emotional pain.

Odhiambo, who is married to a Zimbabwean, explained during a media interview that her lifestyle is one reason she does not have a child. "One of the reasons I still don’t have a child is my lifestyle - I am married to a non-Kenyan and I do not want to have a child with another man and purport to present it as my husband’s baby." She also cited the distance and her age as factors, stating that natural conception would be unlikely without a miracle.

Odhiambo appealed to her male counterparts to stop abusing her over her childlessness, emphasizing that it is neither a crime nor a shame to be childless. "I want to tell all the women in this country who don’t have children that it’s neither a crime or shame to be childless."
