The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has issued letters to several CORD leaders, including Boni Khalwale, James Orengo, Johnstone Muthama, and Elizabeth Ongoro, summoning them to appear before the commission.
The letters, dated October 21, 2014, require the leaders to explain their statements regarding the alleged grabbing of 134 acres of land in Karen.
The land in question has been linked to several high-profile individuals, including Deputy President William Ruto, who was reportedly involved in the deal. The CORD leaders had previously accused Ruto of benefiting from the land grab.
According to reports, Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu is also implicated in the scandal, with allegations that she rewarded key politicians with parcels of land to secure their silence.
Ngilu has denied knowledge of the land's ownership, despite being the head of the lands ministry and overseeing efforts to clean up the country's land registries.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has weighed in on the issue, warning against intimidation of those who speak out against the land grabbers.
