Trouble has been brewing in the Labour Party, coming to a head when party leader Ababu Namwamba fired his Secretary General, David Makali, on Thursday, February 17.
Namwamba, the Budalangi Member of Parliament, has made several changes in the party since taking over as party leader in September 2016, ahead of the 2017 General Election.
According to a source quoted in the Star, Makali was accused of forcing NASA's agenda on the party instead of working with Jubilee. The source also stated that Makali was seen as arrogant and a dictator.
Makali's exit has thrown his plans to unseat Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula as the Bungoma county Senator into disarray.
Namwamba announced the changes in the party's leadership through a Facebook post, naming Peter Ole Musei as the new acting Secretary General.
Other sources indicated that Makali had taken to the party's Whatsapp group to complain about the unexpected move.
