Former Housing Minister and Malava MP Soita Shitanda died at 2pm at the Nairobi Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
At the time of his death, Shitanda was the chair of the Agricultural Development Corporation.
Shitanda had represented the Malava constituency since 1997, when he won the seat after defeating then-Minister of Health Joshua Angatia in the general elections on a Ford Kenya ticket.
He was re-elected to parliament in 2002 on the Narc ticket and served as an assistant minister in the Office of the President before being appointed Minister for Housing in a 2005 cabinet reshuffle.
