Koigi Wa Wamwere has stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta bears responsibility for the Garissa massacre, in which 147 Kenyans lost their lives.

According to Koigi Wa Wamwere, President Kenyatta had previously declared war on corruption and apologized for past regimes' crimes, including those of Presidents Kenyatta, Moi, and Kibaki, as well as his own administration.

However, Koigi Wa Wamwere emphasized that the president's failure to prevent the Garissa massacre means he must accept blame for the security lapse. He drew parallels with former Nigerian President Good Luck Jonathan, who lost an election due to his handling of terrorism and corruption.

Koigi Wa Wamwere suggested that President Kenyatta's administration could face electoral consequences for not adequately addressing issues like terrorism, corruption, Islamic radicalization, and negative ethnicity.
