The Kenyan music scene has suffered another loss with the passing of Moseti Kamanda, popularly known as G-Wiji of Mashifta, a pioneer of the Hip Hop genre.

G-Wiji died on Sunday night in what is reported to be a hit and run incident along the Thika Superhighway.

Legacy in Music

Although he was not recently in the spotlight, G-Wiji's songs remain relevant, addressing issues like corruption and politics, a trend inspired by the 90s group Kalamashaka.

Some of his notable tracks include 'System ya majambazi', 'pesa, pombe, siasa', and 'unga', the latter featuring rapper Kitu Sewer. These songs tackled controversial societal issues.

G-Wiji's contribution to Kenyan Hip Hop is significant, and his loss is deeply felt.

As VINCENT BARAZA noted, this is a loss that Kenya won't soon fill. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
