A significant restructuring at Standard Group has resulted in nearly 90 journalists being affected. The changes impact both print and broadcast sections of the organization.

The following journalists were let go:

  • Nyambega Gisesa
  • Carol Rwenji
  • Joel Odidi
  • Joe Kiarie
  • Kiundu Waweru
  • Peter Orengo
  • Gammz cartoonist
  • Dann Okoth

In addition to the layoffs, several employees have retired or had their contracts expire, including:

  • Julius Maina, Managing Editor of Special Projects
  • Peter Okong’o, Deputy Managing Editor of Daily Operations
  • Dorcas Muga, Deputy Managing Editor of Weekend Editions
  • Juma Kwayera, Saturday Writer
  • Oscar Obonyo, Sunday Writer
  • Stephen Makabila, Sunday Writer
  • Kwamboka Oyaro, Features Editor
  • Joshua Kemboi, KTN Sports Editor
  • George Mulala, Standard Photo Editor
  • Peter Choge, Sub-Editor for Saturday Standard
