A 21-year-old man, identified as Dickson Oduor Gwala, was arrested at the Afraha Annex Stadium in Nakuru during a thanksgiving prayer rally attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto on April 16, 2016.
According to the report by Nairobi News, detectives found one round of 7.62mm ammunition on the suspect. Following the arrest, detectives searched the man's Bondeni residence, but the findings have not been disclosed.
The event was heavily guarded, with about 4,000 police officers deployed to the venue to ensure security. Despite these measures, it is unclear how the suspect managed to bring the ammunition into the stadium or how close he was to the main dais where the President and other high-ranking officials were seated.
The authorities have not released information on whether the suspect acted alone or as part of a larger group. The man is currently being held at a police cell in Nakuru as investigations continue.
