A document circulating on social media, which appears to indicate that the National Super Alliance (NASA) has chosen Kalonzo Musyoka as its presidential candidate, has been dismissed as fake by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

According to ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen, the document is a diversionary tactic aimed at shifting attention away from key issues in the NASA coalition agreement and official statement. "Dear Jubilee, forgery needs a little intellect! Thanks to their reckless actions, Kenyans can smell Jubilee disinformation and misinformation from a mile away," Mr Ong'wen said.

The document, dated February 22, 2017, claims to be from the NASA steering committee and is purportedly signed by Siaya Senator James Orengo. However, Mr Ong'wen stated that NASA does not have a steering committee, and that Mr Orengo is actually the chairman of the NASA National Coordinating Committee.

Evidence of Forgery

Mr Ong'wen pointed out that the document displays total ignorance of NASA, including the use of a non-existent official logo. He also accused Jubilee of previously faking signatures of prominent ODM officials, including Prof Anyang' Nyong'o and John Mbadi.

"They have done it with Prof Anyang' Nyong'o's and Hon Mbadi's signatures before. Desperation knows no bounds or sense of decorum. We wish to assure Kenyans that this is not the last Jubilee is treating them to these juvenile acts. Ignore them," Mr Ong'wen said.

Response from Jubilee

TNA nominated Senator Joy Gwendo defended Jubilee against the accusations, suggesting that the document could have been created by one of the NASA affiliate parties. She urged NASA to resolve its internal issues rather than blaming Jubilee.

The controversy surrounding the document comes as NASA principals, including Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang'ula, and Kalonzo Musyoka, vie for the NASA ticket to challenge Jubilee in the August 8 elections.

The recovered account cited reporting by Nairobi News,Nation.
