Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, a key ally of President Uhuru, has stated that he was involved in procuring witnesses for the ICC case against Deputy President William Ruto.
Kuria made these comments during prayers for the Deputy President in Mt Elgon, claiming he worked alongside NARC Kenya chairperson Martha Karua. Attempts to reach Karua for comment were unsuccessful as her calls went unanswered and she did not respond to a text message.
According to Kuria, "It was all about political competition and I am ready to testify in The Hague."
This revelation comes as ICC judges have issued warrants for two Kenyans, including a lawyer, accused of witness interference.
Kuria detailed how they sourced witnesses to testify against Ruto, potentially reigniting controversy over the case. Previously, Ruto and his supporters alleged that he was targeted by unknown individuals.
Kuria’s admission may impact the narrative surrounding Ruto’s ICC case, particularly among the Kalenjin community. Some politicians had blamed Prime Minister Raila Odinga for Ruto’s troubles, while others pointed to civil society members.
