Published on July 22, 2019, Bandari Football Club is gearing up to participate in the 2019 Confederation Cup, a competition they were abruptly eliminated from in 2016.
The team, which won the SportPesa Shield last season, will face Sudan's Al Ahly Shandy in the preliminary round, a match they hope will bring them redemption after their 3-1 aggregate loss to Congolese side St Eloi Lupopo in 2016.
According to team manager Wilson Oburu, the club still feels the pain of their early exit in 2016 and is determined to erase those memories by progressing past the preliminary round.
"Progressing past this round will be an achievement and we want to progress further and further, because we have not forgotten what happened in 2016," Oburu told Nation Sport.
Oburu expressed confidence in the current Bandari squad, led by Felly Mulumba, citing their experience gained from featuring in international tournaments, including the recently concluded Cecafa Kagame Cup in Rwanda.
