A report from Uasin Gishu County suggests that Deputy President William Ruto's brother is struggling in their village, while the Deputy President enjoys the privileges of his position in Nairobi.

Family members claim that Ruto has neglected some of his relatives, despite being known for donating millions to church functions and harambees.

This situation is reminiscent of other wealthy Kenyans who have seemingly abandoned their less fortunate relatives after gaining power. A notable example is former President Mwai Kibaki, whose relatives lived in poverty while he resided in luxury in Muthaiga.

Deputy President Ruto's own background is one of humble beginnings, having started out as a chicken seller before being recruited by former President Daniel Moi to join the YK 92 movement. This marked the beginning of his rise to becoming the second most powerful man in Kenya.
