A letter to the Speaker by Ababu Namwamba states that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been compromised by multiple interests.
According to the letter, there are five distinct interests that have taken hold of the committee.
Specific Interests ¶
One of these interests is the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The PAC had planned to start open hearings on the procurement of equipment used in the 2013 general elections.
The Chairman of IEBC, Mr. Isaack Hassan, was scheduled to be the first witness, testifying based on a special audit report by the Auditor General and preliminary inquiries by the Committee.
