Dereck Fulton shot and killed 17-year-old Jordan Middleton, who was hiding in a bedroom closet at Fulton's home.

According to the police report, Fulton's 14-year-old daughter had allegedly sneaked Middleton into the guest bedroom in the middle of the night.

Incident Details

Fulton claimed he mistook Middleton for an intruder after hearing strange noises coming from the guest bedroom. He had also heard his dog barking nonstop at the door of the guest bedroom.

Fulton warned whoever was in the house to identify themselves, but no one responded. He then stormed into the room, where Middleton emerged from the closet and tried to run. Fulton shot Middleton in the chest.

It was only after the shooting that Fulton learned Middleton was with his daughter in the room.

Aftermath

Fulton attempted to perform CPR on Middleton while waiting for medics to arrive, but unfortunately, the boy died.

No charges have been filed against Fulton, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The incident highlights the importance of communication between parents and teenagers, especially when it comes to having friends over.
