Celebrated constitutional lawyer and former anti-graft czar, Prof. PLO Lumumba, has spoken out about the national dialogue being advocated for by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.
Lumumba stated that while he disagrees with Raila Odinga's approach to national dialogue, he believes Odinga is right in saying that Kenyans are tired of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, and the way they run the country.
Reasons for Discontent ¶
Lumumba said that Raila Odinga and many Kenyans are dissatisfied with Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto due to their perceived tribalism and exclusion of certain Kenyan tribes from participating in the country's affairs.
According to Lumumba, the current government favors Kikuyus and Kalenjins at the expense of 40 other tribes.
Warning of Potential Consequences ¶
Lumumba warned that if Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto do not change their approach, Kenyans may be forced to take action to liberate themselves, citing Raila Odinga's Saba Saba movement as a sign of seriousness.
"I want to advise Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto to incorporate the face of Kenya in their government, as it currently only employs Kikuyus and Kalenjins, which is why Raila Odinga and Kenyans are bitter with them," said Lumumba.
Lumumba also urged the government to address corruption and insecurity in the country, stating that failure to do so would be a significant failure.
