Anne Ngugi, a former journalist, faced significant backlash after being let go by K24 due to her involvement in an embarrassing incident.

At the time of her termination, Ngugi was working as a news anchor, earning over Ksh250,000, and was heavily pregnant. She was asked to leave before lunchtime.

The incident in question involved Ngugi's name being mentioned in a case where her Nigerian husband, Hypolite Nyong'bia, and Kamimbaya Soumali, were charged with defrauding a Nigerian businessman and two Koreans out of Sh.6.4 million.

According to the allegations, the two received the cash in Nairobi and Kinshasa in 2013, pretending to sell 50 kilos of raw gold. However, it is alleged that Ngugi confirmed to her husband's client over the phone that they sold genuine gold, despite knowing it was not true.

Upon learning about the case, K24 promptly terminated Ngugi's contract, leaving the pregnant journalist without a job or income.

As a result, Ngugi lost friends and some family members, and she is currently jobless.
