The Independent Police Oversight Authority has called for an investigation into the indecent exposure of high school girls' pictures showing their private parts.
This follows public outcry and criticism from human rights activists after photos of the students went viral.
A human rights activist, Diana Rose Okello, questioned the actions of the police, saying, "The police should be the custodians of the law. Why expose children to this form of ridicule? Were they on the wrong? Yes. But do they deserve this ridicule, no?"
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet stated that police officers involved in the incident have been interdicted and may face disciplinary action.
"We are considering taking disciplinary action on the officer, especially for distributing the photos on social media, after completion of investigations," Boinnet said.
