Outgoing Council of Governors Chairman Isaac Ruto is set to join a global body on devolved governments, where he will serve as the focal person for Africa in the United Nations for sub-regional governments.
This global body, based in Colombia, Latin America, aims to enhance the sharing of experiences on the running of counties. The organization has representatives from various countries, including Nigeria and Ghana from Africa.
According to the original account, the body had representatives present at the second devolution conference in Kisumu. However, when asked about his new role, Mr. Ruto stated,
I’m sure an announcement will be made at an appropriate time if that happens.
The association brings together countries with decentralized governments, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and cooperation. This new position is expected to give Mr. Ruto another opportunity to stay in the public eye, particularly ahead of the 2017 elections.
Meanwhile, there is ongoing lobbying among governors to determine who will succeed Mr. Ruto as the Council of Governors chair.
