President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the ongoing efforts to combat deadly liquor in central Kenya during a church service. He cautioned against violence while emphasizing the need to continue the exercise.

According to the President, "Tumwage pombe lakini tusiharibu mali ya watu wengine. Tusichome nyumba za watu. Tunataka kumaliza pombe sio kuharibu mambo ya watu," which translates to "We have banned liquor but we should not destroy other people’s property. We should not burn people’s houses. We want to end liquor, not destroy people’s things."
