Days after a highly publicized altercation, Nairobi Women’s Representative Rachael Shebesh was allegedly involved in another dispute with her ally, Gideon Mbuvi Sonko, at the Parliament buildings late on a Tuesday night.
According to sources, the argument centered around Shebesh’s association with individuals aligned with the opposition. This incident follows a previous clash between the two, which occurred hours after they checked into a hotel suite. Shebesh reportedly left the establishment with an arm injury after a heated exchange.
Sonko downplayed the confrontation, describing it as "a small misunderstanding" that was personal in nature. In an interview with The Standard, he stated, "That was a small issue that we solved. We did not report it at any police station because it was private and personal."
A hotel senior manager confirmed that Shebesh and Sonko had booked a business suite for a meeting before the confrontation ensued, resulting in both parties leaving. Additionally, police at Kilimani reported that Sonko visited the station past midnight on Thursday but did not provide a statement.
This incident is not the first time Shebesh has been involved in a high-profile altercation. In early September, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero allegedly slapped her in front of the media when she entered his office accompanied by striking county workers who were protesting over pay. Kidero defended his actions, claiming he responded violently because Shebesh touched him inappropriately.
The recent clash between Shebesh and Sonko sparked debate on a popular radio station and social media platforms. Many social media users criticized Shebesh, attributing the repeated incidents to her abrasive manner.
