On July 19, 2019, the Kenyan government launched a second phase of Huduma Namba registration, providing citizens with an opportunity to register for Huduma Namba with birth certificates and national IDs.
Government spokesman Col. Rtd. Cyrus Oguna urged citizens who failed to register in the recent concluded 45-day biometric registration to take advantage of the ongoing Rapid Result Initiative on birth certificate and national IDs registration.
Speaking during a weekly press briefing in Marigat town of Baringo County, Oguna emphasized the importance of biometric registration for all Kenyans, particularly special groups like the youth and elderly persons.
He noted that without Huduma Namba, accessing vital government services like cash transfers may be challenging, citing the Inua Jamii cash transfers and Ajira Programmes targeting jobless Kenyan professionals.
According to Oguna, the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme has been up scaled by 63 percent from Ksh16 billion and will benefit over 1.3 million people in the three categories.
He also highlighted the government's plan to continuously enroll more beneficiaries to the programmes, with over Sh26 billion allocated in the 2019/2020 financial year.
