A man has received an outpouring of goodwill from Kenyans after returning a lost iPhone 6 to its owner.
According to the owner, Wayne Stella, she had left the phone on the roof of a friend's car when they visited her at home. She only realized it was missing when she tried to call the driver of her son's school bus.
Ms Stella recounted that she received a call from her phone number on her daughter's phone, and the person on the other end claimed to have found the phone near the army barracks. The good Samaritan, Felix Otieno Oduor, returned the phone to her, and she showed her appreciation with a gift.
After sharing the story on Facebook, many people were touched by Mr Oduor's kind gesture and decided to send him money via M-Pesa as a token of gratitude.
Unexpected Gifts ¶
In an interview with Nairobi News, Mr Oduor expressed his amazement at the generosity of Kenyans, stating that he did not expect any rewards for his actions.
He explained that he found the phone on the side of the street, saw the owner's name on the screen saver, and contacted her to return the device. Mr Oduor stated that he has a principle of never taking anything that does not belong to him, despite having a second-hand phone that could only send texts at the time.
As a result of the donations, Mr Oduor received a total of Sh12,000, which he used to upgrade his phone and pay some bills.
