Suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, is allegedly regretting her decision to leave the CORD coalition led by Raila Odinga to join the Jubilee Coalition in the run-up to the 2013 General Elections.
According to reports, Ngilu, who faced charges of obstruction of justice in court, expressed to her allies that she was misled into believing she had a secure position as a Cabinet Secretary in the Jubilee Government, with a guaranteed five-year term. However, the opposite has occurred.
Ngilu reportedly told close friends, "I never knew President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, would use me and then dump me in prison."
Additionally, Ngilu claimed she was targeted by Jubilee politicians and powerbrokers aligned with Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA party, in an effort to remove her from office. She also stated that TNA-allied power brokers involved in the lands business at Ardhi House were behind her troubles.
In a question posed to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) last month, Ngilu asked, "I have encountered immense resistance from the cartels. Is it possible that these cartels who work with other powerful forces are the ones accusing me and want to ensure that all the efforts towards transforming the land sector in Kenya are laid to waste?"
