CORD leader Moses Wetangula sparked outrage on Twitter after responding to a user's question about the Tokyo Embassy corruption scandal. The exchange began when Wetangula tweeted about the Weston Hotel saga, asking: "What if the MP for Langata led residents to demolish Weston Hotel to restore public land unfairly grabbed??"

Twitter user @kellyGitahi responded by asking Wetangula about the Tokyo Embassy corruption scandal, saying "@Wetangulam where is the money of the sold Tokyo embassy?". Wetangula's reply to this question was met with widespread criticism from other users.

Reactions to Wetangula's Response

Many Twitter users condemned Wetangula's response, with some calling it unbecoming of a leader. @EricKogi said: "now am convinced beyond doubt weta will never be the President or DP before 3070 if thats how he answers". @BillyMijungu asked: "If Weta was President would he answer as such?"

Others, like @James_Kirui, defended Wetangula's response, saying "that’s a good answer, watu waache kuuliza Maswali za ujinga!". However, most users disagreed, with @gaithosg saying "Is this the Senator’s account or is it hacked? Can’t believe he can stoop this low!"

The incident has raised questions about the conduct of public figures on social media and the need for respectful dialogue, even in the face of criticism or difficult questions.

The recovered account cited reporting by Nairobi Wire.
