The Communications Authority of Kenya has denied allegations that it planned to gather confidential data through a new device management system.
According to Director General Francis Wangusi, the purpose of the system is to check the proliferation of counterfeit devices and prevent them from being used in local networks. Wangusi described reports alleging spying plans as malicious.
The new system aims to manage devices on mobile networks, with Wangusi emphasizing its focus on curbing counterfeit devices rather than monitoring mobile phone usage.
