President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta are scheduled to have a private dinner with US President Barack Obama at the White House next month.
The White House has invited President Kenyatta along with 46 other African leaders to a summit in August. The invited leaders are reportedly on good terms with the United States and have not been suspended from the African Union.
President Kenyatta's trip to the US had been uncertain due to strained relations, partly because of his indictment by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and US travel advisories warning against visiting certain Kenyan coastal areas. However, Washington has not confirmed whether Obama will meet with President Kenyatta during the summit.
