Two students from Engineer Ngilu Day Secondary School in Kitui were taken to a hospital after being whipped by an Administration Police officer. The students, both in Form Four, were caught by an Assistant Chief, who is also the father of the boy involved.
The Assistant Chief had called the AP officer from a nearby police post and instructed him to administer the punishment while the students were naked. The Chief witnessed the punishment being carried out.
The girl's mother protested the beating, describing it as brutal. She blamed the Chief's son for allegedly misleading her daughter and said her child was upright and might have been forced into the act. The mother threatened to sue the AP officer and the Assistant Chief.
The Assistant Chief defended his actions, stating that the students deserved punishment to prevent them from bringing shame to their families.
