Nadia, an orphan from Machakos, has been adopted by Deputy President William Ruto after her story touched his heart during a visit to the Madre Ippolita Children’s Home.
According to reports, Nadia was found buried and parts of her body were decomposing before being rescued and taken to the children’s home.
During his visit to the home for the launch of its sustainability fund, Deputy President Ruto was moved by Nadia’s story and decided to adopt her, naming her Cherono after his mother.
"I’ve named her Cherono after my mother and made her part of my family," Deputy President Ruto said.
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of all Kenyans taking care of children, especially those from less fortunate families, while launching the sustainability fund at the Madre Ippolita Children’s Home in Ndithini, Machakos County.
