The community issued an ultimatum, demanding Macharia apologize within 14 days or face a curse. With the deadline having passed, approximately 100 Kikuyu elders gathered in Ndakaini village, Gatanga, to place a curse on Macharia for allegedly betraying his community.
Murang’a county chairman Kiarii Rugami wa Chumbuu confirmed the elders' actions, stating that Macharia would face serious repercussions for his comments. According to The Star, Chumbuu said, "This is real. It is no joke. We gave him the mandatory 14 days to apologize to the community for exposing them to attacks by other communities especially in this electioneering period."
